Thought and criminological reforms of General Don José de San Martín during his protectorate in Peru

This paper focuses on a specific area of General Jose de San Martin's thought, which concerns his criminological position during his protectorate in Alto Peru. His criminal law reform inspired by the thought sustained by the Enlightenment. The transformation of the way of thinking and applying punishment, although without leaving aside in some way the punitive spectacle, gave rise to a new paradigm, opening the field to a more humane criminal law in the region.
