Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the historical and academic background of Legal Sociology, exploring the initial traces of the Law-Social Sciences alliance that led to the convergence of Law and Sociology, ultimately leading to the disciplinary field of Legal
Sociology. In the first part, we briefly describe how Law and Social Sciences developed in modernity; in the second, we explore the alternatives of this path in Argentina; and conclude with a third part, which describes the first references to Legal Sociology or Sociology of Law in Argentine universities, and the first subject included as such in the law degree curricula at the National University of La Plata (UNLP) first, and later at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and the National University of Córdoba (UNC).
